The project

One model, shared standards, recognised qualifications

Whitewater paddling is taught differently in every country. HUB Pyrenees Whitewater sets one common approach to teaching and safety, tests it in two mountain locations, La Seu d’Urgell and Pau, and shares it through a digital platform. The model is built to be repeated: the Pyrenees are the first HUB, not the only one.

Our goals

  • Set common teaching and safety standards for whitewater paddling in Europe.
  • Train and certify coaches with a qualification validated by Paddle Worldwide.
  • Support jobs and active tourism in rural mountain areas.
  • Make whitewater sports more inclusive and accessible, including through Women in Kayak programmes.

How we work

  1. Build the Central HUBCommon methodology, training content and a multilingual digital platform.
  2. Deliver in the PyreneesCoach training and certification at the clubs in La Seu d’Urgell and Pau.
  3. Test and shareThe Portuguese federation validates the model; results are opened to clubs and federations across Europe.
